Otu, Onor Confident Of Victory

The two main Governorship candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Part (PDP) in Cross River State, Senator Bassey Otu and Senator Sandy Onor today, both casted their votes at their various polling locations, boasting of their chances to win the March-18 governorship elections.

While, Bassey Otu voted at his Adiabo-Okirikang ward in Odukpani local government area of the State, Sandy Onor on his part, voted at his Akpor Town Hall, Polling unit 006, Nsofang, Etung Local Government Area.

 

 

Senator Otu who expressed worry over voter turnout, however expressed confidence in the electoral process and hoped that the country is on the path to greatness.

“As a country, we are certainly on the right path to victory. Even though we have a few issues here and there, we believe that we can only get better as a country” he said.

 

 

On his expected outcome in the election, Sen. Otu said ” I believe we will certainly emerge victorious. We are winning, there is no doubt about that. The people are on our side, God is on our side. Our future can only get better ”

Similarly, Sandy Onor immediately after casting his vote at Nsofang, expressed confidence that the will of the people will prevail, he decried plans to rig the elections by the ruling APC, and the setting ablaze of his campaign vehicles on fire at Odukpani, Bassey Otu’s Local Government of origin on Friday, March 17, while preparing for the polls.

 

 

 

“Our vehicles were ambushed yesterday and set ablaze at Odukpani yesterday by thugs, as for the voting today, the voting is going on well. Their plan is just to cause violence and rig the election, but the will of the people must prevail, we won’t be deterred,”

“Beneath what you see, we have some concerns about the ad-hoc staff that INEC put together clearly are on the APC side, but that’s okay, it shows us their hand, we are in the race, it does not deter the will of the people, we believe that with proper monitoring, we would be able to check their excesses.

“All the messages from the governor and the government even till this time, indicates that they want to just rig and ally violence to facilitate gigging, but we trust that the people would be able to stand up and we would win.”
