Violence, Killing in C’River, Bayelsa Communities

There have been reports of pockets of violence in parts of Odukpani, Ugep and Ogoja local governments is Cross River State, just a few hours before commencement of voting.
In Ugep, there were reports of violent attacks by some suspected political thugs on the eve of the election.
Two persons were given machete cuts by unknown thugs. It was not clear what led to the scuffle but there was panic in the area when the fight erupted.
In Odukpani, there were reports of a pregnant woman being shot. Apart from the woman, TNN learn that some youths were also shot by their counterparts as they struggled for supremacy in the area.
Reports from Ogoja on Saturday morning showed that one person was killed by security operatives when the boy whose identity could not be ascertained, attacked soldiers.
In Ogbia local government of Bayelsa, voting materials for wards 2, 3, 4 and 5 under Constituency 2 were said to have been carted away and destroyed by unknown thugs.
