The Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police, Ajao Adewale, has sustained his unannounced duty tour of police Divisional Headquarters across the State, with visits to Oporoma and Swali Market Police Divisions.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Musa Mohammed, the exercise is part of the Command’s ongoing efforts to strengthen supervisory oversight, assess operational preparedness and ensure strict compliance with established police regulations.

During the visits, the commissioner inspected the station facilities, detention areas, duty posts and other critical sections of the Divisions to ascertain their state of readiness and the general conduct of personnel.

He also interacted with officers and men, assessing their level of alertness, commitment to duty and responsiveness to security challenges within their respective areas of responsibility.

Ajao charged the Divisional Police Officers to maintain effective supervision of personnel, ensure that police facilities remained clean, orderly and functional, and sustain a high level of operational alertness.

He emphasised that professionalism, discipline and diligence must be reflected in the conduct of every officer, irrespective of rank or deployment.

The CP further reiterated the need for strict adherence to the law and established police procedures in the handling of arrests, detention and other operational activities.

He cautioned against unlawful detention, arbitrary arrest, extortion and other forms of misconduct capable of eroding public trust and confidence in the police.

He assured members of the public that the command would sustain its unannounced inspection of formations across the State as part of measures to promote accountability, strengthen internal discipline and ensure efficient service delivery.
