Overwhelmed by the gesture, the Rivers State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps NYSC, Mr Moses Oleghe, has poured encomium on the governor, Siminalayi Fubara, for approving the building of a new 1000 capacity hostel for male and another 1000 capacity hostel for female corps members.

The target is to complement the 5000 capacity auditorium in the camp which at present is underutilized.

Fubara gave this approval on Tuesday, during the closing ceremony of 2025 Batch C orientation course for corps members deployed to the state, held at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Nonwa-Gbam Tai.

The governor who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government and Chairman NYSC State Governing Board, Dr. Benibo Anabraba, charged the corps members to leave enduring legacies that will stand the test of time in the host communities.

Fubara urged them to be patriotic and selfless in rendering quality services to the people of the state, even as he assured them of love and hospitality.

The governor used the occasion to announce immediate and comprehensive renovation of camp facilities to provide the corps members who he described as elite youths and leaders of tomorrow, a more conducive environment for their camping exercise.

Earlier in his address, Oleghe described the 3-week camping exercise as, “hugely impactful, fruitful and rewarding in the lives of the corps members.

“The exercise has helped enrich your experiences and redirected your consciousness towards nationalistic ideals and values.

“I charge you corps members to serve with respect, commitment, and integrity in your places of primary assignment across the communities of the 23 LGAs of the State.”
