Former Rivers State governor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revealed that he is not in any battle with suspended Rivers Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, describing him as his “boy.”
He stated the battle was not against Fubara, but those he claimed had been pushing the governor against him.
In an interview with BBC Pidgin published on Saturday, Wike said he cannot fight his son, refuting claims of a feud.

He said, “That one is not a battle. He (Fubara) is my boy, he is my son, why will I fight with him?
“I’m only fighting against people who want to steal what they did not work for.
“Now, they are ashamed because they are being defeated. They are the ones pushing Fubara.”
Wike, however, directed his anger at political figures including Celestine Omehia, Abiye Sekibo, and Austin Okpara, accusing them of seeking to benefit from a political struggle they did not contribute to.
“I am fighting those who want to reap where they did not sow. People like Celestine Omehia, Abiye Sekibo, and Austin Okpara. I have defeated them before, and I will give them the final defeat,” Wike declared.
Political rift between Wike and Governor Fubara have dominated Rivers State political scene in recent months.
The crisis reached a crescendo in March when President Bola Tinubu suspended Fubara, the deputy governor, Ngozi Odu and the Rivers Assembly.
Following their suspension, the President appointed a state administrator whom he saddled with the responsibility of running Rivers affairs for six months.
Meanwhile, Fubara has been suing for peace but Wike said the suspended governor needs to take more reconciliatory steps rather than allegedly organising protests against the President’s declaration of a state of emergency rule in Rivers State.
