As Nigeria mourns the late former president, Muhammadu Buhari, who died on Sunday afternoon at a hospital in London, the suspended governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has described him as a leader of legacy and principle.
Fubara stated this in a release on Monday, by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Nelson Chukwudi.

The suspended governor expressed sorrow over the passing of Nigeria’s former president and extended his sympathies to the family, president Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as well as the government and people of Nigeria.
Describing the loss as a significant one for the nation, Fubara who spoke on behalf of his family and the people of the state, acknowledged the former president’s contributions to national development and leadership.
He described Buhari as a leader of discipline, integrity, and unwavering commitment to the unity and progress of Nigeria.
According to Fubara, Buhari’s years in office were marked by a strong focus on anti-corruption, national security, and infrastructure renewal, efforts that will remain part of his enduring legacy.
He added that the late president left behind a legacy of service, sacrifice, and patriotism that will be remembered by generations to come.
Fubara also reflected on what he described as Buhari’s impactful career, first as military Head of State between 1983 and 1985, and later as a democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023, highlighting his place in Nigeria’s political history as a leader who served with sincerity and purpose.
He offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the late president’s soul and for strength and comfort to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
