As the rains set in, Keke riders along the Eneka-OPM link road in Rivers State have said that they may be compelled to increase the cost of transportation if nothing is done to salvage the dilapidated road.
This, they shared with TNN on Sunday, when a rider had to evacuate his passengers to another keke as his tricycle broke down in the middle of the water.
The riders took turns to lament over the damages caused by the dreaded road on their vehicle, even as they bemoaned the incessant hike in the cost of materials and repair of their Keke when it breaks down.

They appealed to the community development committee, CDC, of the area, and also called on Mr. Azenabor James, an Edo native, residing at Paradise Estate, who singlehandedly filled the road in December 2020 to come to their rescue.
According to them, they were ready to make possible contributions to that effect, as long as the money gathered would be channelled to the repair of the road to prevent break down of vehicles.
The dreaded area, from the Rumuekpolu Ultra Market to the round about linking Rukpokwu and Eneka, is said to have been constructed over three times by the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.
Residents and motorists have continually accused the contractor and NDDC of doing a shabby job, since it was done without drainage. They believe that lack of drainage was the reason the road went bad weeks after it was done.
