A former commissioner for energy in Bayelsa State, Maxwell Oko, has sent a touching condolence message to the governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, over the death of his deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewrudjakpo.
Oko said in the condolence letter he signed personally on Monday, that he was destabilised by the news of the deputy governor’s death, saying he could not put himself together for while, after hearing the sad news.
In the letter, he also sympathised with the former deputy governor’s family and he people of Bayelsa State, praying God to strengthen everyone, in times like this.
He said: “I have not been able to put myself together since last week when the news broke, of the death of our deputy governor, Senator Lawrence Ewrudjapo. It was as shocking as it was destabilizing and I can imagine how it has been with you, considering how close two of you were.
“His immediate family is also seriously troubled by this unexpected but natural event. It is only God that can console you, the family and our state in this very challenging time in our history.
“My prayer is that the good God who understands everything, should strengthen you, keep the family and help the entire state to bear this very, very painful loss. Only God can heal this wound that his death has opened in our heart.
“Please, Your Excellency, accept my sincere condolence, as I urge you to be strong in God and of good cheer. Be comforted.”
