The Bayelsa State Government, says all things being equal, the ongoing construction of the Nembe-Brass Road will be completed and commissioned in the first quarter of 2027.
The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr. Moses Teibowei made the revelation while speaking on infrastructure budget performance at the stakeholders interactive session for the Bayelsa State 2027 budget preparation organised by the state government in Yenagoa.
He said “by the grace of God, by December-January, (this year) I strongly believe that with more funding, the 21-kilometre Nembe-Brass Road will be completed for commissioning in February or March, 2027.
“It is part of the 2026 Appropriation Act funds approved that are being expended on the project.
Highlighting other critical infrastructure projects being funded by the state government through the ministry of works, Teibowei hinted that the 9-storey iconic new state civil service secretariat building construction had reached advanced stage.
He noted that by the end of October, this year, the imposing structure would get to roofing level.
Another major project being properly funded by the ministry, he said, was the ongoing 30,000 capacity stadium at Igbogene.
“Continuing, the commissioner said “There is also the Akaba-Okodi Road project, leading to Ayakoro community that is also being funded and will be completed early next year for commissioning.
“I also want to talk about the Agbere-Elemebiri Road project which several communities along that corridor with benefit. It’s also being funded on the same token in which the Glory Drive Road (phase 3) is being funded.
“There are several other internal road projects that are ongoing.”
The works commissioner noted that although the funds expected in the 2026 budget didn’t come as anticipated, over sixty percent of funds appropriated for the ministry of works and infrastructure had been received and prudently being expended on critical projects.
He added that at the end of the 2026 fiscal year, he would be able to fully evaluate and speak on the ministry’s total budget performance.
