Up to eight petitions have so far been filed at the elections tribunal in Cross River State by aggrieved candidates of some of the political parties, according to the tribunal registry. The candidates had 21 days to file their petitions, from the day the election result was announced.
The petitions were filed following the outcome of the National Assembly elections which took place on February 25. Among those who have approached the tribunal is the candidate of the Labour Party for the Cross River Southern Senatorial District election, Ntufam Daniel Asuquo.

There was no record at the tribunal to show if the state governor, Prof Ben Ayade of the APC who was defeated by Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe of the PDP during the Cross River Northern Senatorial District election had approached the tribunal.
Asuquo is challenging the victory of the APC candidate, Mr Asuquo Ekpenyong jnr. Apart from Asuquo, Mr Bassey Ewa who contested against the current speaker of the state house of assembly for the central senatorial district seat, Eteng Jonah Williams has also approached the tribunal in search of justice.
The others who have gone to the tribunal are Okpechi Friday Gabriel of the PDP who is challenging the victory of Mike Etaba of the APC, as member-elect for the House of Representatives.
Mr Attach Ochinke, the PDP candidate for the Ikom/Boki seat in the House of Representatives has also dragged Mr Victor Abang Bisong of the APC to the tribunal. Bisong was declared winner of the election by INEC.
Mr Sunday Oka Ifere of the Labour Party has equally taken Dr Alex Egbona of the APC to the tribunal as he battles for the Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency seat in the National Assembly. Emil Inyang of the APC is being hunted by candidates of the Labour Party, Esu William Ejemot and that of the PDP, Igwe Augustine Adam for the Akamkpa/Biase seat.
