Wike’ll Do Well In FCT If He Leaves Rivers State Alone -Senator Birabi

Senator Bennett Birabi has said that his expectation is for the immediate past governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, to perform well in his office as the FCT Minister.
Birabi explained that to achieve this, Wike would have to give attention to his ministerial position and leave the state alone.
He stated this in an exclusive interview with TNN on Friday, where he expressed the belief that Wike would perform extremely well if he stops interfering in Sir Siminalayi Fubara’s led state government.
Describing Fubara’s victory at the Supreme Court as natural, the senator explained that the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, was the only party in the state, adding that it would have been sheer falsehood if the Apex court had ruled otherwise.
Birabi applauded the Supreme Court for doing what he described as the right thing in the judgment on the case between the 2023 governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC, Pastor Tonye Cole and Fubara.
He said the judgment was “natural. Anything other than that would have been sheer falsehood because there was no other party in Rivers State. PDP was the only party in Rivers State. So there is no way anybody could have come from outside to say they defeated the PDP candidate. So I think the Supreme Court did the right thing.”
On his expectations from the governor, he said “if he is allowed to work then we expect from him but if he is been crowded by all of these controversies then we could still have a problem.”
Advising the FCT Minister, Birabi said “Wike has done his best and he is gone, he should allow this man to take his due position so that they can rate him against this man because if he keeps interfering in this government then we cannot draw a line between what he did and what this new man is doing.
“He is the face of Rivers State at the center. That is basically what he is because nobody cares whether he is Wike, they don’t care which part of Rivers State he comes from, all they know is that he is from Rivers State. So it’s our prayer that he does well, if he doesn’t do well then it’s a collective failure for Rivers State.
“Some of us inherited names and we know what that inheritance means. If he is there now as our face and he fails woefully, what you will hear will be that’s how Rivers people are, it’s not a good recommendation, so we want him to do well and to do well he has to face his work and leave Rivers State alone.”
