PDP Govs: Ude-Okoye, Not Anyanwu, Is Our National Sect

Demand Rescheduling Of NEC Meeting To March

To avoid any clash with the law, Nigerian governors elected under the banner of the PDP have advised the party’s National Working Committee, NWC, to shift the NEC meeting planned to hold in February, to March 13.

This is coming even as the governors have declared that the recognised national secretary of the PDP is Ude Okoye, as ruled by the court of appeal. They want the party to set up an implementation committee to give expression to the court of appeal judgment.

These were part of the resolutions reached at the PDP governors’ meeting which took place in Asaba, Delta State.

The governors, while acknowledging the ongoing efforts to resolve the internal crisis, reaffirmed their commitment to upholding party discipline and legal processes.

“The Forum noted with delight the ongoing efforts at resolving the crisis in the National Working Committee on the position of the National Secretary and has reaffirmed its support for the Court of Appeal judgment; consequently, the Forum advised the NWC to set up the machinery for the effective implementation of the court judgment,” the communiqué said.

The governors used the meeting to assess the state of the nation and the performance of PDP-led states and expressed concern over the federal government’s macroeconomic policies, the governors noted that these policies had inflicted hardship on Nigerians and called for an urgent review to alleviate the suffering of the people.

“The macroeconomic policies of the Federal Government have inflicted hardship and pain on the polity. The Forum calls on the Federal Government to either revisit or rejig these policies to stop the hardship, as no meaningful development in the states can be achieved until the harsh policies are addressed,” the governors stated.

The governors also expressed concerns over the resurgence of non-state actors and called for a strengthened national security architecture.

They also acknowledged the developmental strides of the host governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, particularly in infrastructure, environmental remediation, people’s empowerment, and security and reassured Nigerians of the party’s commitment to restoring the country to the pre-2015 era of economic stability, security, and national unity.
