NYSC Appreciates Rivers LG Chair For Donating Another Corps Members’ Lodge

As part of projects to mark his first 100 days in office, the chairman of Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State, Mr. Iyekor Ikporo, has built and inaugurated a brand new 12-room self-contained corpers lodge.

Excited by the development, NYSC State Coordinator, Mr. Moses Oleghe, commended the chairman for what he described as his vision for uncommon educational growth and development of students in the LGA.

Oleghe gave this commendation during the inauguration on Wednesday, at Idu Ekpeye.

The state coordinator, who was the special guest at the event described the lodge as “modern, modest, secure and serene, an accommodation fit, ideal and conducive for corps embers habitation.”

He enjoined the traditional ruler of Idu Ekpeye and his council of chiefs, stakeholders and youths to ensure “round the clock security of the lives and property of the Corps Members posted to the community as well as facilities in the lodge.”

Oleghe gave the assurance that the quality of teaching and learning amongst students in the community would be imminently transformed positively and immeasurably.

Earlier, the LG boss hailed the state governor’s committement to the education sector.

According to him, Sir Siminalayi Fubara is, “engendering unparalleled investment in the education sector, stating that his administration totally aligns with the governor’s vision for education.

“The lodge project is the consensus felt-need of the community which cannot be denied, especially when it is considered that we have implicit confidence that corps members will change the narrative in the educational standard of students in the community if posted.”

He assured the coordinator and corps members in the LGA of adequate security and welfare, adding that he would take over the responsibility as a firstline priority of his administration.

The event had in attendance the traditional ruler of Idu Ekpeye kingdom and his council of chiefs, the political class, security agencies, stakeholders, teachers and students as well as Corps Members.
