In what appeared to be a rare show of courage and fearlessness, Rivers State women who attended an empowerment programme planned by Senator Remi Tinubu, on Friday in Port Harcourt humiliated Theresa Ibok-ette Ibas, wife of the sole administrator of the state.
Theresa was to represent Tinubu’s wife at the Renewed Hope Empowerment Programme which took place at the EUI Events Centre, Port Harcourt.
No sooner had she mounted the rostrum and began by greeting the women who were clad in a white T-shirt with pictures of the wives of the suspended Rivers State governor, Mrs Valerie Fubara and the president’s wife, than the women rose from their seats and staged a walk out.
As they walked out, they chanted songs, calling for the return of Fubara and announcing their rejection of Theresa, because they did not know her husband.
With an apparent feeling of dejection, rejection, shame and disgrace, the administrator’s wife left the venue as the place became rowdy, with the women not willing to listen to her.

Women from various organisations have been protesting the enthronement of a military administrator in the state on the streets of Port Harcourt in the recent past, a development that made Ibok-ette Ibass to threaten them, reminding of the enormous powers at his disposal. But the women have refused to give up.
