NDDC Gives Hope To Contractors Owed Since Inception

As part of efforts to strengthen transparency and enhance efficiency in project payments, the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, has inaugurated a project verification and payment committee.

The committee was approved by the Board to verify all infrastructure, electrification, environmental, desilting and water supply projects executed by the Commission.

The decision to constitute the committee was taken following a resolution reached at the 9th meeting of the 7th governing board of the Commission, held in December, 2025.

The chairman of the committee is the NDDC Executive Director of Finance and Administration, Alabo Boma Iyaye while the Director of Legal Services, Mr. Victor Arenyeka, would serve as the secretary.

Other members are, the Executive Director of Projects, Sir Victor Antai, the Director of Project Monitoring Service, Mr. Gbenga Omowanle, Director Finance and Administration, Mrs Kunemofa Asu, and the Director Internal Audit, Mr. Lucky Ogbuji.

The verification exercise is aimed at capturing verified project details on the Directorate of Finance and Accounts’ digitized platform to facilitate electronic payment processes.

The initiative aligns with the federal government’s directive mandating all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to digitise their operations and adopt paperless systems by December 31, 2025.

In line with this directive, the NDDC Management would conduct a comprehensive verification of all completed projects to capture the necessary information in the Commission’s Directorate of Finance and Accounts’ electronic database for payment purposes.

The Project Verification and Payment Committee would undertake a comprehensive verification of all completed projects in the region from inception to January 2023, to capture them in the Digitised database of the Directorate of Finance and Accounts for E-payments.
