MOSIEND Hails NDDC Forensic Reports Implementation On Contract Awards

A renowned pressure group in the Niger Delta region, Movement for the Survival of Izon Ethnic Nationality in the Niger Delta MOSIEND, has hailed the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC forensic report implementation committee on contract awards in the region.
MOSIEND while commending the committee in an interview with TNN, posited that, “the era when contract papers were sold and bought in beer parlours to third and fifth parties in the name of NDDC contracts were over.”
The national president of the Niger Delta group, Kennedy Tonjo-West urged contractors whose contracts were, “terminated by the presidential committee to approach the court for justice, if they are not satisfied by the action of the federal government.”
According to him, “if all these NDDC projects were sincerely executed in Niger Delta Communities, the people of the region could not be complaining of underdevelopment and sufferings as witnessed in our rural areas.”

He continued that, “the contract terminations would serve as a deterrent to corrupt contractors in the region.
“If there is anything that has caused gross underdevelopment in the region, it’s the habitual habit of collecting contracts and monies and then abandon the projects, it’s the sole reason for underdevelopment in the region not Federal Government.”

MOSIEND who commended the appointment of new Minister for Niger Delta Affairs and the Managing Director of NDDC said they are satisfied with both appointments by President Buhari led Administration.
“We are comfortable with the focused and transparent disposition of the honorable Minister and the recently appointed Acting Managing Director MD as the concentrate on addressing the salient issues the will engender grassroot Socio economic growth and development.”
He further called on stakeholders and groups to, “support and encourage the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs and the Acting Managing Director to achieve the much they can achieve for the region within the limited period they have for our overall progress.”
