As the National Youth Service Corps NYSC, Rivers State, swears in 3,512 corps members for the 2026 Batch B Stream 1, the governor, Siminalayi Fubara, reaffirmed his administration’s continued support to the scheme.
Fubara who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Special Services Bureau, office of the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Samson Dede, said his administration would continue to prioritize the peace and prosperity of citizens.
The governor also promised the newly deployed corps members that under his administration’s ‘Rivers First Agenda’, he would remain committed to their welfare.
Speaking at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Nonwa-Gbam, Tai, Fubara addressed the corps members and declared the orientation course opened.
His words: “My administration remains unwavering in its determination and commitment to supporting the operations of the NYSC Scheme in the state.
“I charge the corps members to take the skill acquisition training very seriously as well as participate actively in all camp activities and programmes.”
On his part, the state NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Moses Oleghe, advised the corps members to see their posting to Rivers as a rare privilege and the best opportunity for self-discovery and improvement.


Oleghe appreciated the governor for the donation of a total of 2500 brand new mattresses for corps members’ use.
The NYSC cord further revealed that the state has become a “preferred destination by corps members nationwide.”
Oleghe commended “the good people of the state, security agencies, leaders of the host communities, transport union executives, Okada riders association, and critical stakeholders for unwavering and unflinching support to the NYSC scheme and corps members in the state.”
The Chief Judge of the state, represented by Justice Prince Mini administered the oat to the 3,512 corps members made up of 1,572 males and 1,940 females at the ceremony.
