Eid-el-fitr: Rivers Police Enhances Security Measures

In a bid to ensure a safe, orderly and an incident-free Sallah celebration, the Rivers State Police command, has deployed personnel and operational equipments at key locations across the state.

Security in areas such as Eid prayer grounds, markets, motor parks, relaxation spots and other public venues, were enhanced.

Also, the police assured that adequate security were also provided in critical infrastructure and identified vulnerable areas to prevent any disruption of public peace.

These were disclosed in a statement on Thursday, by the Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Irinke-Koko, where the command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring safety and security before, during and after the festivities.

Further wishing all Muslim faithful a joyful, peaceful and fulfilling Sallah celebration, the Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, urged residents to be law abiding, alert and supportive to security agencies throughout the festive period.

“The Rivers State Police command notifies the general public, particularly Muslim adherents, that comprehensive security arrangements have been implemented to guarantee a safe, orderly, and incident-free Sallah celebration.

“In keeping with its mandate to protect lives and property, the command have strategically positioned personnel and operational equipment at key locations across the State, including Eid prayer grounds, markets, motor parks, relaxation spots, and other public venues.

“Enhanced security has also been provided at critical infrastructure and identified vulnerable areas to prevent any disruption of public peace.

“The Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, appeals to residents to remain law-abiding, alert, and supportive of security agencies throughout the festive period.

“Members of the public are advised to refrain from reckless driving, unlawful gatherings, and any conduct capable of undermining public order. Parents and guardians are also encouraged to properly supervise their children and wards.”

The CP further emphasized that any individual involved in criminal activities such as thuggery, cultism, armed robbery, or violence will be promptly arrested and prosecuted in line with the law.
