EFCC Goes After Content Creators

Content creators who use people’s or organisations’ photographs and logos on social media and elsewhere without authorisation will need to have a rethink as there there is bad news for them.

If others may tolerate that, it is no longer business as usual with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

The anti graft agency has cautioned individuals and content creators against the unauthorised use of its name, logo, uniforms and other official identity in skits and online productions.

The anti-graft agency issued the warning after observing a growing trend of creators featuring the Commission in comedy and other digital content without approval.

In a video shared on X, the EFCC said such portrayals often distort its values and standard procedures, stressing that it has not granted permission for any such use.

“It has come to the attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission that some individuals and content creators are using the name, logo, and likeness of EFCC in skits and other media content.

“Many of these skits misrepresent our values and standard operating procedures. We wish to inform the general public that the EFCC has not authorized any such use. The EFCC does not endorse, sponsor, or approve any comedy, drama, or online content that uses our identity without written consent,” it said.
