C’River Kidnap: Travellers Jittery As Ayade Assures On Security

Travellers along the Ikom-Calabar Road are beginning to be jittery, after kidnappers captured a bus and took away nine of the passengers along the road. But the governor, Prof Ben Ayade has assured that more security measures would be adopted to protect lives and property of the people.
This is coming just as all the nine kidnap victims have finally been freed. Eight had been freed early on Wednesday, while the 9th victim secured his freedom in the late hours of the same day.
Some travellers have said that it was becoming scary to ply the road. They believe that the bad nature of the Ugep-Akamkpa axis of the road may have made it possible for the kidnappers to have a field day.
On Wednesday, the governor said in a statement he signed personally, that his “heart goes out to the victims and their families of this heinous crime which has violated the innocence of our state.
