COVID-19: UNICAL VC gives palliatives to APC leaders across C’River

1 min read

As a way of cushioning the effects of the on-going COVID-19 lockdown, vice chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof Zana Akpagu has given out food items to leaders of the APC in the state.

Among the beneficiaries are members of the executive committee at the state level, as well as ward Exco members from the Cross River North Senatorial District.

Akpagu told TNN over the telephone on Thursday that he decided to procure about 100 bags of rice for the various levels of APC leadership as well as other seasoning items as a way of identifying with his party leaders at this trying time.

He said it was important for him to touch lives of people in his party, adding that a lot more people will benefit from the gesture. Akpagu said he would continue to do things to touch the lives of people, even as he advised the people of the senatorial district to ensure compliance with all health guidelines that would make them stay safe.

The vice chancellor is among those aspiring to occupy the senate seat that has become vacant after the death of Senator Rose Oko. No date has been fixed for the APC primary election, neither has INEC fixed a date for the bye-election.
