The publisher, who is known for his critical and analytical publications, said the suspected robbers took advantage of his temporary absence from his Amarata residence to break in and still items worth millions of naira.

Speaking to newsmen, Ozegbe, popularly called the Jagaban of NUJ in Bayelsa State and founder of The Light Chapel, said the suspected thiefs ransacked his apartment upon gaining entry into the house.

The veteran Journalist, said the suspected miscreants made away with:N250,000 cash meant for publication, ATM cards, two laptops, one plasma television, standing and ceiling fans, clothes, and other valuables.

He reaffirmed that the total loss ran into millions of naira.

Lamenting that it was not the first time he had been attacked by robbers in the area, the publisher urged the Nigeria Police and other security agencies to increase surveillance patrols in the Amarata area to forestall further incidents.

The publisher, who is also Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Delight Journalists’ Hangout at Punch Road, said the attack had left him “devastated” and unsure of where to start from.

He appealed to the State governor, Senator Douye Diri, his deputy, Dr Pastor Peter Akpe, lawmakers, commissioners, local government chairmen, political appointees, businessmen and other well-meaning Bayelsans for support to enable him “pick up the pieces.”

He, however, thanked God for sparing his life and family.
