Youth Leader Commends Police For Arresting Lady Who Stabbed 11-Year-Old Girl In Rivers

A youth leader in Rivers State has commended the State Police command for their swift response in arresting one Abigail who stabbed an 11-year-old girl, Oluebube, over a misunderstanding.
The incident happened at Chukwu Street, Off R/D Road, Rumuodara, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.
17-year-old Oluchi, sister of the victim explained that the suspect, who is in her early 30s stabbed her sister with a kitchen knife which got stuck in her sister’s body.
She said her 11-year-old sister, Oluebube who was going to dispose dirty water, unknowingly collided with the neighbour-Abigial, who was carrying a pocket of water.
According to her, the neighbour who fell to the ground with the pocket of water descended on the little girl. She said after beating her, she instructed her to clean up the place before she returns from replacing the water.
Oluchi explained that while her still was about to commence sweeping of the corridor where the water poured, the neighbour who had returned from fetching another water took a knife and stabbed the 11-year-old girl.
She said after stabbing her, Abigail tried to escape through the fence but was caught by neighbours and handed over to the police.
Speaking, the immediate past president of Rumuodara Youth Association, Mr. Frank Weli commended the police for what he described as their swift response in apprehending the suspect.
Meanwhile, a rights group, Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability has called for a thorough investigation into the incident.
The National Coordinator of the organization, Prince Wiro, in a chat with TNN, said the suspect should be arraigned in court immediately if found culpable in the course of investigation.
