Residents of Port Harcourt have called for the immediate prosecution of one Abigail, who allegedly stabbed an 11-year-old girl, known as Oluebube.
Oluebube who is a resident of Chukwu Street, Off R/D Road, Rumuodara, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State was said to be battling for survival in the hospital.
TNN gathered that the 11-year-old victim was allegedly stabbed by a female neighbour named Abigail, who is believed to be in her early 30s.
It is said that the kitchen knife, allegedly used in stabbing the little girl at her back, stuck in her body.
Speaking in an interview, sister of the victim, who introduced herself simply as Oluchi, gave her side of the incident. “My sister’s name is Oluebube. She is 11 years old. “My sister dey for hospital but them don bring the knife out. Them operate her to bring the knife out.” She added that her sister was stabbed at the back.
A resident who spoke with TNN, Mr. Innocent Opara said, “this is wickedness and nothing more. This is wickedness, that lady should not be spared, she is heartless. No matter what the little girl did to her, should it amount to stabbing to take her life?
“I am worried how human beings became this callous, without sympathy, that lady can kill somebody, yes. Because the little girl mistakenly pushed you and you fell with water, and you have even beaten her to your satisfaction, yet you still took knife and stabbed her. She does not have conscience.
“I appreciate the neighbours for not allowing her to escape, it is now left for the police to ensure she pays for this act of complete wickedness.”
Meanwhile, the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Harris Iringe-Koko confirmed the incident, adding that the suspect was in police custody.
The PPRO also confirmed that the knife has been removed from the girl’s body, and that she was responding to treatment.
She further assured residents of the state that investigation had commenced.
