Stabbed 11-Year-Old Girl Battles For Life In Rivers

Residents of Port Harcourt have called for the immediate prosecution of one Abigail, who allegedly stabbed an 11-year-old girl, known as Oluebube.
Oluebube who is a resident of Chukwu Street, Off R/D Road, Rumuodara, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State was said to be battling for survival in the hospital.
TNN gathered that the 11-year-old victim was allegedly stabbed by a female neighbour named Abigail, who is believed to be in her early 30s.
It is said that the kitchen knife, allegedly used in stabbing the little girl at her back, stuck in her body.
Speaking in an interview, sister of the victim, who introduced herself simply as Oluchi, gave her side of the incident. “My sister’s name is Oluebube. She is 11 years old. This morning my sister was washing plate outside, as my mummy left house, she want to go and sale market. So as my sister was washing plate, the woman na go and fetch water and the corridor is dark, person wey dey inside can see person wey dey outside but she she cannot see her inside there.
“And she she stand there with her water she cannot tell the girl don’t carry the pot and come so that you will not jam me with the pot, she na stand there and the girl did not know, she na carry the pot enter inside and jam her, the pocket na fall.
“She too she fall, she na start beating my sister, everybody wey dey for compound dey beg am tell am make she no vex, say she no no na, she for tell am say she dey for corridor there. Na em them tell am say okay. She na tell the girl say before she go go back go fetch water come back make she don sweep the water, my sister tell am say okay she go sweep the water say make she no vex, she know no say she dey inside there.
“She go back to go fetch water, my sister go dey wash plate say after she go go sweep the water, them tell am say make she leave the plate go sweep the water, as my sister carry broom make she go sweep the water out, she na enter inside and carry knife and stabbed her, she na started to bring out the knife, the head break, the knife dey inside her body. They na call police. She na enter inside her room, lock door, follow fence jump to run, they na catch her, beat her, as them beat am finish, them carry am go put for police station.”
“My sister dey for hospital but them don bring the knife out. Them operate her to bring the knife out.” She added that her sister was stabbed at the back.
A resident who spoke with TNN, Mr. Innocent Opara said, “this is wickedness and nothing more. This is wickedness, that lady should not be spared, she is heartless. No matter what the little girl did to her, should it amount to stabbing to take her life?
“I am worried how human beings became this callous, without sympathy, that lady can kill somebody, yes. Because the little girl mistakenly pushed you and you fell with water, and you have even beaten her to your satisfaction, yet you still took knife and stabbed her. She does not have conscience.

“I appreciate the neighbours for not allowing her to escape, it is now left for the police to ensure she pays for this act of complete wickedness.”
Meanwhile, the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Harris Iringe-Koko confirmed the incident, adding that the suspect was in police custody.
The PPRO also confirmed that the knife has been removed from the girl’s body, and that she was responding to treatment.
She further assured residents of the state that investigation had commenced.
