Gunmen Kill Policeman At Check Point in Rivers
1 min readDare-devil gunmen on Friday afternoon shot and killed a policeman at a check point around the Emohua axis of the East-West Road. The killers zoomed off immediately after the deed had been done
According to eye witnesses, a driver who was around the area and apparently waiting to be cleared at the checkpoint was hit by a stray bullet. It is not clear if he died.
The killers were suspected to be hoodlums who have been terrorising that axis of the East West Road. The road is actually occupied by various policemen who position themselves at checkpoints not far from each other.
Police spokesperson in the state command, Grace Harris Iringe-Koko, a deputy superintendent of police who spoke with TNN over the telephone on Friday evening confirmed the killing and also said that the gunmen did not go with any arms belonging to the policemen at the checkpoint.
She could not give details on the killing, saying she was yet to get a comprehensive report on the incident. She said investigations were on-going.
