A renowned pressure group in the Niger Delta region, has urged the President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to consider giving two ministerial slots to Rivers State when it is time for him to form his cabinet.

The group, Movement for the Survival of Izon Ethnic Nationality in the Niger Delta MOSIEND, said this was because of the role played by Rivers State under Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, towards the emergence of Tinubu as winner during the February 25th presidential election in the state.

National president of MOSIEND, Kennedy Tonjo-West, told newsmen in Port Harcourt that Rivers State deserved two ministerial slots in Tinubu proposed government of national unity.

MOSIEND urged the president-elect to take into cognizance what the group described as the strategic position of Rivers State in the Niger Delta Region. According to the group, “Wike’s performance in infrastructure is impressive unparalleled and rafting Wike into his team will add tremendous value to his government of national unity.

“Rivers State deserves two ministerial slots as the only state in the South south to deliver the president elect through the directive and instrumentality of governor Nyesom Wike.

“Ceding the two slots to Rivers State for appointment will serve as a mark of appreciation for voting him which will serve as enforcer.

“I call on him to kindly consider and appoint Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike CON as either the Minister of Transportation or Works in his proposed government of national unity, taking into cognizance the strategic position of Rivers State in the Niger Delta Region and the country.  He should also consider the deft political calculation and structure put in place by governor Wike to ensure his victory.”
