Rivers Crisis: Woman Demands Corpse of Son Allegedly Killed During Protest

A certain Mrs. Calister Ugiri has sent a “save my soul” message to the governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, following the alleged missing corpse of her late son.

She also called on the state Police command to produce the dead body of the 27-year-old boy, Onyekachi Ugiri, allegedly killed during a protest to stop the impeachment of Fubara by the state House of Assembly.

Onyekachi was reported to have been among the youths involved in the protest, on Tuesday, October 31.

It is said that he was among the four victims that had a bullet injury, while the other three were rushed to the hospital, Onyekachi was said to have died as he was shot directly on his head.

Calister, who resides at Borokiri, Port Harcourt with her alleged killed son, cried out to Fubara, even as she urged the state Police to produce the remains of her son.

Shortly after identifying a corpse in a video made available to her as her son, Onyekachi, Calister explained in an interview that, “On Tuesday one boy, one of our neighbour, his name na Chiwendu, so, I hear say Chiwendu come carry my son Onyekachi, say them dey go for governor’s protest to support the governor’s protest. I say ah ah! How can that kind thing happen, so for night we wait, wait, wait, I no see am, I come ask my daughter say where Onyekachi go, em say Chiwendu come carry am, them dey go to support governor’s protest.

“So, I com wait, so on Wednesday in the morning that Chiwendu come back, em come dey tell my daughter again say em carry Onyekachi commot, as them commot, as police dey shoot gun, bullet touch for the head, then him(Onyekachi), my son come fall, him come run enter one building, na there em die.

 

“so, as em die there na, I know, know, Chiwendu come tell my daughter say as them go to support governor’s protest, say Onyekachi bullet touch am for head.”

She added that after hearing the report of the unfortunate demise of her son, “I come go old GRA Police station, them say make we go control room, we come go there for Moscow Road, them come direct us to go State CID, I go there, them say them don carry other people commot, them come direct us make we go BMH, say some people, I go there see two people wey they shoot for there, as we reach there kwa I no see my son, they say make we go police clinic, I go there, say they shoot one boy for leg, as I go there, I check am, my son no dey there.

To police she said, “I dey beg them, anywhere they keep the dead body make them provide am for me, I take God name beg them, make them provide my pikin dead body for me, since how many days I dey find am, I dey find am, I dey find am before I come see the video, before I come see for video where my son lay down, they shoot am, I see the gun wey they shoot am, governor abeg, police people abeg, anywhere wey una keep my pikin dead body make una provide am for me abeg you.
