Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and his management team, have visited the family members of Mr. Kenneth Nyebuchi Eke, the landlord who was killed allegedly by police officers, in Woji Community of the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The CP’s visit according to the Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, was to console the family of the deceased, assure them of justice and to ensure the restoration of peace to the area.
Speaking with newsmen during the visit, Disu assured the wife of the victim and the people of Woji Community that justice will be served.
He confirmed that the suspects, as well as the police officers believed to be involved in the matter, have been arrested and that the command has commenced investigation.
Disu also appealed to the aggrieved youths and members of the community to, “give peace a chance.”
He stressed on the importance of partnership between the Police, communities and stakeholders.
He explained that, “this is what the Inspector General of Police has been talking about, partnering with the community, partnering with stakeholders, that has made it easy for us to solve this issue at hand.
“The traditional rulers came out, elders came out and assisted the police in dazing the tension.
“The police cannot operate on their own, we have to partner with members of the public, to succeed we must have a lot of stakeholders.”
The CP assured that, “We are going to embark on training and retraining of our officers and we are going to have a lot of partnership with every community and actually to be friendly to members of the public.” Adding that incidents such as this, was going to be a thing of the past.

Also, the Chairman of the Local Government Council, Barr. George Ariolu, has condoled with the people of Woji Town over the sudden demise of their son, Eke, younger brother to the immediate past council chairman, Hon. Solomon Eke.
The council boss commiserated with the bereaved family and urged the authorities to bring the perpetrators to Justice.
