Why Women Should Be Supported To Assume Leadership Positions, Says Dev Expert

Women empowerment and development expert, Dr. Mercy Bello Abu, has described the empowerment and development of women as necessary step to achieving societal progress.

 

Abu, who is the global convener of Women Being Real WBR, gave this description in a release made available to TNN, where she stressed on reasons women should be supported to assume leadership positions.

In the release titled, “Women Empowerment and Development: A Journey of Challenges and Progress,” she explained that empowering a woman was neither a curse nor a blessing.

 

According to her, empowering women at the grassroots level was a necessity that can create a ripple effect that challenges and dismantles existing societal norms.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Abu explained that the impact of women empowerment and development initiatives extends beyond the individual, to empowering entire communities and shaping a more equitable society.

 

Speaking on her experience, she said, “since 2013, I have devoted myself to advocating for women’s empowerment and development through capacity building and leadership.

“This journey has been filled with numerous stories and experiences, both uplifting and challenging.
