Utilize Opportunity Provided For You By RSG, Ogbakor Chair Tells Ikwerre Youths

The Chairman, Ogbakor Ikwerre Youth Council of Nigeria, Amb. Anthony Chidi Nsirim, has urged youths of Ikwerre ethnic nationality and Rivers State at large to maximize the ongoing employment exercise in the state by the Rivers State Civil Service Commission, RSCSC.

Nsirim who stated this in an interview with TNN noted that employment opportunities, skill acquisition and empowerment and harnessing of economic opportunities are major approaches which will help disengage the youth from all forms of criminal activities.

According to him, “It’s indeed a welcomed development if only the opportunities provided will not be hijacked. Unemployment has been a major threat; we know that there is no excuse for crime but idleness has no friend at all.

“I urge, infact, I passionately appeal to the youths of Ikwerre ethnic nationality and Rivers State at large to utilize this opportunity provided for them by applying for the available positions into the state’s civil service commission.

“I am appealing, especially to those who are qualified but not employed. The Rivers State Government has provided the platform to curb the level of unemployment in the state, you should judiciously key into this, it’s not easy but it’s worth trying.

“This is a commendable move by the state government. I call on every Ikwerre and Rivers state resident not to jeopardize this precious opportunity. It is an opportunity that comes once in a while, so do not let it pass you by.”

While lauding the state governor, Nyesom Wike, the Youth leader highlighted that, “The process will not just reduce unemployment level in the state but will also reduce the incessant criminal acts recorded in the state.”

He however urged the RSCSC and the state’s head of service to be transparent and truthful in the recruitment process. “I want to also use this medium to appeal to the Head of service to ensure that there will be no partiality of any kind. The governor has made it open to everyone and every form of partiality should be far away from the process, rather, the commission should pay more attention to the most qualified and competent indigenes in the selection process so as to boost the Rivers state government workforce,” Nsirim averred.

Recall that the RSCSC, a body of professional civil servants entrusted with the responsibility of carrying out the policies of the Rivers State government in relation to infrastructural development and social service delivery brought a notice on November 6, 2020 informing Rivers State residents of the various vacancies and the method of application to fill the available positions.
