Rivers State Residents have called for prayers for the state, as things allegedly fall apart between the governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, Minister for FCT.

The residents who spoke with TNN expressed dismay over the political battle, which they said have brought mayhem on the state.

While some blamed the incumbent governor over the alleged sack of his Chief of staff, Chidi Amadi, others wondered why his predecessor, Wike, had allegedly refused to remove his hand from governance in the state and concentrate on the FCT.

Making this appeal, a certain Mr. Stephen Ndamati, said, “Everybody should please pray for Rivers State, pray for Rivers State, things have fallen apart, pray for Rivers State.

“Very painful and ugly is that this fight between two elephants is affecting the common man the most. The youths that are protesting are common citizens, ordinary citizens like you and I. Big men fight na poor men dey die, poor men dey carry am for head, na still we poor men dey suffer am pass.

“I don’t have much to say, all I want to say and will continue to say is that Nigerians should pray for our dear Rivers State, pray for our state, things have fallen apart.”

Also speaking, Mr. Elijah Ukwu described the situation as, “really bad, it’s very bad. Wike was governor for eight years, nobody impeached him, nobody disturbed him, nobody influenced him, he ruled Rivers State for eight years, nobody challenged him, why can’t he allow Sim, leave Sim allow to govern Rivers State as governor.

“I don’t see what Sim did, what did he do, Wike should tell Rivers people what Sim did, why should he be impeached? This is unfair, very, very unfair.

“Yes, let’s all pray for Rivers State because if this continues I am afraid that people will die, this state will be on fire, God should please help us.”

Mrs. Grace Azubuike told our correspondent that, “I don’t know what the issue is, but crisis is not a good thing. I have been hearing fire, fire, fire, tear gas, this one, that one on radio, hmm! This one is fearful.

“Well, I don’t know what is the problem but since it is Sim that is the governor, they should allow him, they should allow him. Others have ruled, now is his turn, they should allow him.

“The only thing is that sack they said he sacked his Chief of Staff, Chidi Amadi, that is the only thing I hear people say, that why will he sack him, but who hired somebody have the power to sack him, that is all I see there.”
