Following the impeachment saga rocking Rivers State, Mr. Wisdom Oniekpar Ikuli, of the Niger Delta Nonviolence Agitators’ Forum NDNAF, has called for the immediate protection of the incumbent governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara.
Ikuli, who is popularly referred to as ‘Mirror and Conscience of Society’ made this call amid the crisis between Fubara and his predecessor, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
Group Warns Against Fubara’s Impeachment, Says Rivers Not Wike’s Estate
In a release made available to TNN, titled, “There is Fire and Emergency in Rivers State: Ijaws Should Rise Up to the Challenge”, he said, “Ijaws should mobilize massively to Rivers State now to protect Gov. Siminalayi Joseph Fubara KSC.
“The present attempt to impeach the Governor is a slap and biggest insult on the sensibilities of our great people.”
Ikuli stressed that, “If Wike is leveraging on the fact that he made Sim Fubara Governor, then he should not forget that it was Ijaw people that made him Wike Governor of Rivers State.
“Rivers State is the Sweat and Blood of Ijaw people who were later reduced to second class citizens during the Sir Peter Odili, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Ameachi and Wike administrations.
“Enough of the madness. Ijaws are not cowards. The time to act is now!”
