Police, Judiciary Synergize To Reduce Crime In Rivers

The Chief Judge of Rivers State, Hon. Justice Simeon Chibuzor Amadi, has pledged the judiciary’s cooperation to work in synergy with the state Police command to reduce crime rates.
Amadi gave this assurance when the state Commissioner of Police, Mustapha Mohammed Bala, paid him a courtesy visit on Wednesday, to seek collaboration between the Police and Judiciary to ensure effective law enforcement.
This was contained in a release on Thursday, by the Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Irinke-Koko.
The Chief Judge in his remarks thanked the police commissioner and his entourage for the visit and welcomed the initiative.
Amadi while explaining that the judiciary’s structure comprises 14 Judicial Divisions, 37 Magisterial Districts, Customary Court of Appeal and Customary Courts, appealed to the CP to post police orderlies to the High Court Judges in the State.
Further, the Chief Judge promised to assist in enhancing the skills of Police officers in investigating cases, maintenance law and order in the State and other areas of training.In his part, Bala who was accompanied in the visit by his management team and other senior police officers emphasized the importance of a harmonious working relationship.
He also highlighted, “areas of potential collaboration as diligent prosecution of cases, providing legal guidance to police officers to ensure they operate within the framework of the law, training of investigating police Officers amongst others.
“This courtesy visit demonstrates CP Bala’s proactive approach to building strategic partnerships with critical stakeholders in the State.
“The visit concluded with an exchange of plaques and group photographs, symbolizing the commitment to collaboration between the Police and Judiciary.”
