Nigerian Cyber Security Experts Get New Leaders

After a keenly contested election, a new leadership team has been elected by the Cyber Security Experts Association of Nigeria (CSEAN), with Olabode Agboola as its president.

The others who were elected include Oluwatoni Falade- Vice President, Elizabeth Mojisayo Adekunle, Director of Membership,  Muntaka Mukhtar Bube, Director of Communications, Awobifa Olamide Seyi, Director of Information Security, Gabriel Akinremi, Director of Programmes and Jonathan Ayodele, Director of Training and Education.

In his acceptance speech, Agboola said he was grateful to his colleagues for the trust in him and vowed to take the association to higher heights.

He said even though he was privileged to be chosen among others to lead the association, “I extend my deepest respect. Your commitment, ideas, and years of service have enriched this democratic process. Though the election yielded only one president, your voice and value remain integral to our collective progress.

“I have a deep regard for Professor Idris and Dr. Ademiluyi. You will all agree with me that none of three of us is not qualified enough. Each has got very rich profile and our contributions to CSEAN advancement speak volume. I look forward to working with each of you in unity and collaboration as we advance our shared goals.”

Agboola said he was willing and ready to hit the ground running. Our administration will become committed to the strategic implementation of the agenda I shared throughout the campaign and some of the agenda of other contestants.

He restated his determination to enhance members experience and values, empower women in cybersecurity through prioritised development initiatives, establish and strengthen campus fellowships to mentor students nationwide, elevate CSEAN’s presence on the global stage through the Cyber Secure Africa Conference and also create sustainable revenue through digital platforms and subscription-based awareness delivery digital product.

He also promised to strengthen training, certification support and policy advocacy capacity, assist risk management for SMEs, CyberYarn, a podcast program that connects cybersecurity experts, leaders, academics, and officials to share insights and drive awareness.

The association, he noted, would launch an initiative to provide strategic cybersecurity advisory services to state government executives and top public sector officials, among other programmes that would advance a more secure cyber future for Nigeria, grow CSEAN’s impact, and leave a legacy of excellence.
