The federal government has cleared the air on the status of the two executive directors of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, with a declaration that the management team of the commission remains intact, despite the dissolution of the governing board.
A letter by the permanent secretary, ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Dr Shuiab Belgore that was addressed to the managing director, Dr Sam Ogbuku noted indicated that the executive director, finance and administration, Major-General Charles Airhavbere and the executive director projects, Mr Charles Ogunmola were still part of the team and would work with him.
The letter also said the decision to dissolve the board subsisted. It was a response to an enquiry by Ogbuku to the federal government, for explanations on the status of the duo. The letter was dated July 4.
Penultimate week, the same permanent secretary had written to notify the managing director of the dissolution of the board and his appointment to remain and run the commission. The names of the two executive directors were not mentioned in that letter.
The defunct board was headed by Mrs Lauretta Onochie and throughout the period of her stay on the board, there was no peace in the commission.
