The Ag. Director of the National Youth Service Corps NYSC, South-South Area Office 11, Port Harcourt, Mrs Olayinka Diana Nasamu, has described corps members as the Pride of Nigeria, urging them to make the one year service count.
Nasamu while addressing corps members on Thursday during an oversight visit to the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp Nonwa-Gbam Tai Local Government Area of Rivers State, warned them against wasting their service year.
Speaking to the 2026 Batch C Stream 1 Corps Members, the NYSC Ag. Director said, “you are the pride of Nigeria, don’t waste your service year. See yourself as the pride of Nigeria, therefore, you must do everything necessary not to waste the service year.
“The NYSC Scheme offers graduate youths like you a veritable platform for self-discovery and capacity building through discipline, resilience, integrity, diligence and hard work.
“I want to urge you to obey all camp rules and regulations, while making it a priority to be grateful to God, parents, and guardians at all times, as well as appreciate yourselves for how far you all have come in the journey of life.”
Further, she charged them to “take the skill acquisition training very seriously, love one another, make enduring friendships and avoid night travel at all costs.”
Earlier, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr. Moses Oleghe, in his address said the corps members were patriotic and excellent in their participation to camp activities.
He reported that a total of 3280 corps members comprising 1380 males and 1900 females are seamlessly undergoing the orientation exercise.
