
Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State, Amasenibo Abinye Blessing Pepple, has commenced distribution of relief materials to flood victims.
Pepple revealed on Tuesday, that the materials were donated by the state government, in response to the impact of the recent flooding across parts of the LGA.
The relief materials were also donated to residents affected by the flood to help alleviate the difficulties faced by affected families and provide immediate support as they cope with the impact of the flooding.
Items distributed were 150 bags of 25kg rice, 400 bags of 10kg beans, 30 bags of 25kg salt, 40 gallons of 10-litre palm oil, 14 cartons of Knorr seasoning cubes containing 196 packets, 25 cartons of vegetable oil containing 300 packets.
Also distributed were 120 bags of 25kg garri, and 200 cartons of Indomie noodles, in addition to other non-food items donated by the government.
In his address, the LG boss praised government for the support provided through the Rivers State Flood Prevention and Management Committee, headed by the Deputy Governor, Prof. Ngozi Odu.
He also commended the governor, Siminalayi Fubara, for what he described as his thoughtful intervention and support for flood-affected communities across the State at this critical time.
