Natives of Eneka Clan in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State have vehemently condemned the alleged defilement of 13-year-old maid by her 42-year-old boss.
The accused, whose name was given simply as Mr. Kolowale, an oil rig worker, resides in Eneka Clan, married with children.
Spokesperson of the state Police command, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the arrest and detention of the suspect to newsmen, affirming that the matter was been investigated.
The 13-year-old maid (name withheld) who worked as a domestic staff at the house of the suspect before the alleged incident was reported to have undergone medical examination.
Result of the medical examination conducted was reported to have proven that the teenage girl’s private part was penetrated.
Saddened by this development, natives of Eneka have urged the state Police command to thoroughly investigate the matter, insisting that it must not be allowed to slide away.
They charged the Police to ensure that the accused if found culpable, faced the full wrath of the law.
Describing the alleged defilement case as a sad one, Mr. Victor Dike said, “when I heard about it I was so overwhelmed that such a thing could happen. I thought it was a mistake when they mentioned Eneka, it was just a sad development.
“However, justice must take its full course. I frown at such a development and wish that forthwith any person that is culpable should face the law, and for the Rivers State Police action, it is one that all eyes will be on them to know what will come out of this case.
“This case is an eye opener to the neighbourhood, so, I urge the Rivers State Police and every stakeholder involved to marshal out plans to see that this case arrives at a logical conclusion and the culprit face the law.”
