At Ukanafun, PDP Chair Insists Eno Is Guber Candidate, Raises Hopes

 

 

 

 

In a rare demonstration of love and support, the people of Ukanafun Local government Area trooped out in their thousands to the QIC Central School field, Ikot Akpa Nkuk to receive Pastor Umo Eno, even though his governorship candidacy is still unclear.

 

 

 

 

The cheerful and energetic supporters adorning attires of in different colours while displaying placards with different inscriptions such as, “Pastor Umo Eno remains our candidate,” “Say no to a convict, Fraudster,” “Umo Eno has capacity, competence, character and compassion,” “We Need a pastor governor, not a cultist, 419,” and “Ukanafun is for Umo Eno, PDP.”

Speaking at the rally where a one minute silence was observed in honour of immediate past state party chairman, Chief Udo Ekpenyong, the current chairman who is also an Ukanafun son, Elder Aniekan Akpan said Eno remained the authentic candidate of the PDP and would be elected governor of the state on March 11.

 

 

 

 

On INEC’s portal at the moment is Mike Enyong, a member of the House of Reps. The court had ruled that Enyong, and not Eno, was the PDP candidate. But the court of appeal is to give judgement on this on a date yet to be ascertained.

Also speaking at the rally, major stakeholders in the area including the political leader, Obong Eno Akpan, campaign chapter coordinator, Ekpenyong Ekpenyong, State House Member, Charity Ido, Local Government Chairman, Pastor Godwin Inyieng, party chapter chairman and others said Ukanafun was one of the first LGAs to align with the vision of Eno and had adopted him over a year ago.

 

 

 

They noted that Ukanafun was one of the few LGAs where all the leaders were united, assuring that all the votes in the LGA will be delivered to the PDP.
Addressing the crowd, Eno noted that Ukanafun was blessed with natural resources, including the blue river, and others, and promised to develop tourism as well as commercial palm oil production in the area.

He maintained that his economic development blueprint would focus more on rural development through agricultural revolution, building and reactivation of primary health centers, roads, modern schools, markets and others; assuring everyone that Ukanafun would be a great beneficiary of the ARISE agenda.

 

 

 

He appreciated the people of Ukanafun for the massive turnout and bold statement, and appealed to them to be firm in their resolve and not only vote for him but also protect their votes.
