Why We Reject SOLAD In Rivers, Demand Fubara’s Reinstatement -Group

In an interview with EDITH CHUKU, on Sunday, Chairman of Rivers Democratic Coalition for SIM, Dr. Ihua Confidence Waribo, announced the postponement of the earlier scheduled solidarity walk for the suspended governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara.

Waribo told TNN that the demonstration scheduled for Monday, March 24, 2025, was postpone following the declaration of state of emergency by the president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He also condemned the suspension of the governor, his deputy and those he described as legitimate house of assembly members, describing the act as barbaric and unconstitutional.

Waribo who is an oral physician and a dental surgeon revealed these and more in this interview.

Excerpts:

You had earlier publicised the readiness of your group; Rivers Democratic Coalition For Sim, to hit the street of Port Harcourt tomorrow (Monday, March 24) on a solidarity walk for the suspended Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara. How is the arrangement going?
Thank you for this opportunity to comment on some issues in Rivers State.
Well, the solidarity walk has been put off.

Put Off. Why?
We have decided to put off our planned solidarity walk for governor Amaopusenibo Siminialayi Fubara for now because we believe that the state is not conducive for that now going by the declaration of state of emergency in the state.
You know, state of emergency implies that the fundamental human rights of citizens are curtailed to checkmate insecurity. It was on this premise that we have decided to postpone the planned solidarity walk.

Speaking of emergency rule. What’s your take on the state of emergency declared by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the suspension of Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Ordu?
The state of emergency declaration and suspension of a democratically elected governor, deputy governor and legitimate house of assembly by president Tinubu is barbaric, unconstitutional and capable of ending democracy in Nigeria.
Tinubu went beyond his powers. This current National Assembly is the most rubber-stamp when compared to other predecessors and because of that, the president had his way.
The National Assembly was in the best position to redeem Nigerians from this political mess but they didn’t do it.
Posterity will judge them.

Rivers State now has a sole administrator…
Takeover of Rivers State by Sole Administrator is the highest form of illegality in the country.
Not only unconstitutional but obsolete and outdated. Both the Supreme court and federal government were not fair to governor Sim.
Everything that happened was scripted.
From the supreme court down to FG.
It was premeditated. I feel so bad that court of law designed to be the last hope of a common man is now the greatest fear of the common man. With this crop of judicial officers, Nigeria is gone.

Are you saying it is injustice that the governor and his deputy were suspended?
Governor Amaopusenibo Siminialayi Fubara does not deserve the suspension because suspending a democratically elected governor is illegal and not bound by the constitution.
All actions taken by Sim Fubara while in office were all within the armbit of the law.

What then is your appeal to Tinubu?
My appeal to president Tinubu is to immediately reverse this illegal proclamation and return the people’s governor back to office.
Also, to the people’s governor, Sir. Amaopusenibo Siminialayi Fubara, I appeal for utmost calmness and patience which he has always depicted. In this difficult time, he should also reflect on some issues of the past and I guess, he will come out strong.
Rivers Democratic Coalition for Sim is a political group formed by true Democrats to support governor Sim Fubara. If you go by his styles of leadership, you will see that the people were placed first and with this, every democrat will love to associate with him.
