The PDP Central Senatorial campaign made seven stops in Boki at the weekend, picking up dozens of APC decampees in its wake, most of who were Food On The Table appointees. In all the town hall meetings and rallies, most speakers maintained that they were expecting the PDP to return to continue from where it stopped since the APC interruption did not complete a single project throughout the length and breadth of Boki nation.

In Kakwee Beebo, one speaker told the crowd that “my joy is that primary schools, health centres, culverts, etc. in our communities were constructed by the PDP, the party that shares to all, nobody will disappoint your party. Atta Ochinke was the one who settled our problem with Okwabang, when we were ready to go to war with our brothers, while the APC government only stood and watched. We are going to reward him with our votes.

A community leader, Mr Dan Abu led over 20 others back to the party. “We are back home, back to the family. It was Usani who misled us to the APC,” Dan Abu enthused.

The mammoth crowd in OKWABANG nearly mobbed Barrister Atta Ochinke as they chanted his name and the names of Ikobi Ikobi, Bassey Ewa and Senator Sandy Onor. When the convoy of more than 20 SUVs and buses rolled into ABO OGBAGANTE, the leader of the team, Ntufam, Dr. Gabe Odu Orji reminded the people that Abo was the progenitor of all Boki people and that the highest inter-ethnic marriages in Cross River were between Etung and Boki people. A senior chief who spoke said Ayade was clever to have ran away from PDP because he feared that they were going to remove him. “We are all behind you because your candidates are people we can easily access. We cannot leave our sons to go and support someone else. Be rest assured that we are behind you”.

In BOJE, Atta Ochinke told the crowd that “The APC members are also aware that they have failed, that is why Tinubu is not saying that he will continue Buhari’s legacy and Prince Otu is not saying that he will continue with the Ayade legacy. Mrs Felicia Orim, who spoke for the women of Boje said that “…we the women in Boje are all in PDP and we will support our party from top to down”. Stephen Odu, a young man speaking on behalf of the youths informed the crowd that “Senator Sandy Onor brought a mobile police station here when we were fighting with our brothers but Ayade snatched the detachment away to Obudu and left us to continue to kill ourselves. He abandoned the general hospital in Onitsha farm and as soon as he switched to APC he abandoned the East-West Road as well”.

Okundi was really the icing on the cake as the people of Ekpashi and Ogep wards converged in late Chief M.T.Mbu’s old stomps. Someone pointed out that “our people know PDP and PDP knows our people. PDP is our father and our mother. PDP is the river we know. Now these people went and brought a new river and we are afraid of bathing in that river because we don’t know what will happen to us, maybe it will scratch our skin, maybe it will infect us with craw craw.” Speaking, Dr Gabe Odu Orji reminded the people that “Cross River State is 57 years old, yet old Ikom has not produced a Governor, Deputy Governor or Speaker. Pius Tawo tried, Ntufam Matthew Ojong tried, Dr Josephat Okey tried also but we didn’t get it. This is our time to make our son Sandy Onor, Governor.

Those who defected in Okundi included Bar. Ewah Obi; Special Adviser, Willy Tawo, Maxwell Etta, Hon. Oliver Ekwo, Jonas Obi Otu, Mrs Eucharia Bisong, Bar. Otu Oshibu, Mr Jimmy Etta, Gilbert Obi Ekpang, Hon. Douglas Ogar, Chief, Bar. Henry Ebu, Joseph Osang Obi, among others. Maxwell Etta, a former Senior Special Assistant to the Governor who spoke on behalf of the defectors told the crowd that “Nothing, not even a borehole has come from APC. There was terrorism in this ward sponsored by the state government until the people themselves took their fate in their own hands. That party is satanic, so are their candidates. Agreement is agreement, federal House is for Boki One. We are going to put all the so-called big men in Boki who have sold our forest and land to Ayade to shame”.

The chairman of the Boki New Agenda group, Mr Willy Tawo said that his group was going to harvest another batch of 33 appointees and 28 stakeholders back into the PDP, warning that Boki can no longer be toyed with by people who didn’t mean well for the people.

When the train rolled into the ancient Catholic town of KAKWAGOM, a carnival was already underway and Rt. Honourable Bassey Eko Ewa, the senatorial candidate of the PDP was on hand to lead the victory dance party. Chief Joe Obi Bisong, a son of the soil, excited the people with the promise of good governance and the good life when Senator Sandy becomes Governor.

The people of the two wards of Buda and Bunyia/Okubuchi in Irruan who had been waiting patiently in BUNYIA erupted in excitement when the train rolled into town, led by Star Boy and candidate for Boki 2, state constituency, Walter Nandi Esom with chants of ‘Ochichi Owey Oshie’. Boki local government Campaign Chairman, Hon. Dominic Kidzu led the team to a sumptuous reception hosted by retired AIG of Police, John Bassey Abang in Bunyia IrruanIrruan to round off the charge in Boki LGA.
