The regent of Belema community in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State and newly elected National Secretary of the apex Ijaw sociocultural organisation, the Ijaw National Congress (INC) Anyanate Kio has averred that the INC under the presidency of McDonald Igbadiwei will pursue resource control with all legitimate powers within its reach.
The new INC scribes made the assertion while speaking to newsmen as part of his reaction to the just concluded national executive council election of the Ijaw ethnic pressure group.
Kio said the new national executive council which will takeover from the Prof. Benjamin Okaba led outgoing leadership in May this year, with Igbadiwei on the driver’s seat, will ensure that the Ijaw nation get what rightly belongs to them.
Until his new electoral victory, Kio was the Leader of the National Representatives Council (NRC) of the INC.
Speaking further, the secretary-elect said “In my tenure as scribe of the INC, I would continue to tow the path of peace and development in Ijaw land. It is my desire to forge stronger synergy with all members of NEC, and other strata of the INC.
“I’m dedicating this victory to the great people of Ijaw nation. Without them this victory wouldn’t have come. This victory is in recognition of my great contributions to the peace and progress of Ijaw nation
