Some residents of Rivers State have expressed concern over the statement made by the state Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, while confirming the death of Mr. Gift David Okpara, popularly known as 2Baba.
Disu in a release made available to newsmen by the Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, stated that “efforts are in progress to retrieve the body of the infamous killer, while investigations into the Iceland cult’s activities in the region continue.”
Recall that 2Baba has been on the wanted list for his involvement in the heinous murder of the Divisional Police Officer of Ahoada Division, Bako Angbashim, on September 8, 2023, in Odiemude Community, Ahoada-West LGA of the state.
In a chat with TNN, Mr. Eyinda Obinwo commended the Police for their efforts. He said, “the announcement of 2Baba’s death by the Rivers State Police command is indeed commendable. We appreciate the Police for their good work.
“I also want to thank the CP, Olatunji Disu, he has been committed to his duties, the people of the state are seeing that and we are really grateful.
“I must say that I am not very satisfied with the CP’s statement. Yes, this is because this matter is not a small one, they have been looking for this guy and his group for a very long time now, how come you are telling us that intelligence report revealed he is dead and yet no evidence.
“We want to see 2Baba’s dead body so we will be relieved. Sincerely, I am concerned. I trust Police, no, I didn’t say I don’t have faith in them, but announcing 2Baba’s death without making his corpse, the dead body public is not enough. And that is why I want to beg the police to try more to retrieve his body, you don’t report death in the absence of proof of the body.
“We are very happy and grateful to the Police and other security agencies for job well done but retrieving the body of 2Baba as promised by the CP will bring more relieve to the people of the state.”
