Beginning this week, Dr (Engr) Esang Esitikot, a COREN-registered chemical engineer and an HSE professional with over 20 years in FPSO, will be running a column on your awards winning newspaper, TNN. It will be published every Tuesday.
Esitikot has been involved in offshore and onshore oil and gas production operations. He has made significant contributions to improve HSE and enhance human capacity development in health, safety, environment, emergency response and risk management. A native of Ukanafun LGA of Akwa Ibom State, he holds a Bachelor of Technology degree in Chemical/Petrochemical Engineering from Rivers State University of Science and Technology, and a Master’s degree in Health, Safety and Risk Management from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, Scotland.
Dr. Esitikot also holds a doctor of Business Administration from Walden University, Minnesota, USA, a programme he graduated with a CGPA of 3.9 out of 4.0.
He has attended several local and international trainings and undertaken many research works for improvement of HSE. His research publications include Impacts of safety incentive programmes on occupational health and safety in the Nigerian oil and gas industry and Perceived effectiveness of safety incentive programme among oil and gas technicians within the Niger Delta region of Nigeria.
He has also passed several professional examinations and earned certificates such as certificate of proficiency in oil and gas operations from Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, Canada. Over the years, Dr. Esitikot’s career has progressed from Process Plant Operator to HSE Management System Coordinator, Maintenance Supervisor, Operations Supervisor and currently a management staff in a multinational oil and gas company.
A member of the Nigeria Society of Engineers, he is a Fellow of the Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Risk Management Institute. He is also a Fellow of Nigeria Institution of Safety Engineers, a certified member of the UK-based Institute of Occupational Health and Safety, a corporate member of the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers and a member of the institute of safety professionals of Nigeria. Currently, he lectures in the Institute of Health, Safety, Security and Environment, University of Uyo.
Esitikot is happily married to Deborah and the relationship is blessed with children. He enjoys teaching, motivating youths, counselling couples, analyzing issues that affect the public and driving continuous improvement in whatever he does.
