Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has stated that coalition leaders will support whoever emerges as the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 general elections.
Amaechi, a two-term governor of Rivers State, made this known in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, on Wednesday.
He emphasized that the coalition leaders are optimistic about a transparent, free, and fair primary process.
He said: “The moment anybody emerges from the primary, all of us will support; that’s the agreement.”
Amaechi urged every indigene of Rivers State to register with the ADC and work towards removing the ruling APC in the 2027 general elections.
He stated: “Every Rivers man who thinks good of the state and country should move to register with the new party and ensure that we remove the current government and stop the hunger that everybody is suffering from.”
The ADC coalition includes prominent members such as former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, former Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State, former Senate President, David Mark, and former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.
Amaechi expressed concern about the hunger and hardship in the country, attributing it to the current government, believing that a change in government is necessary to address these issues.
He reiterated the coalition’s commitment to a free and fair primary process. According to him, this commitment is crucial in ensuring that the party presents a strong and united front for the 2027 general elections.
