Immediate past Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Sen. (Dr) Ipalibo Harry Banigo, has said the verdict of the Tribunal that confirmed the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, declaration of Governor Siminalayi Fubara as the winner of the March 28, 2023 Gubernatorial election in the state, did not come as a surprise.

Banigo, who is the Senator representing Rivers West Senatorial District, stated this in a release titled, ‘Sen. Banigo Hails Tribunal Judgement On Sir. Fubara Victory’, made available to TNN by her Chief Press Secretary, Precious Abia.

She said she was not surprised because, “Rivers people voted massively for Governor Fubara, the PDP Candidate in the Gubernatorial election.

“Governor Fubara is a calm gentleman with great administrative wealth of experience,  as a career civil servant, who has demonstrated huge passion for the development of the State so far.”

Banigo, who hailed the verdict of the Three-Man Panel led by Justice Cletus Emifonye, also advised political opponents in the State to, “sheath their swords and join hands with the State Governor in the consolidation regime for the overall interest of Rivers people.”

The National Law Maker, while congratulating Sim on his Victory at the Tribunal, urged him to remain focused and sustain the development pace for the greater good of the State.
