3 min read

His Royal Highness, Eze Simeon Wokoma JP has called on religious leaders in the country to speak up on disunity and hatred affecting communities across the nation.
Wokoma who is the paramount ruler of Rumuokwurusi Kingdom in Obio/Akpor L.G.A of Rivers State made this call over the weekend during the dedication of DayStar Anglican Youth Church, Rumuokwurusi.
According to him, “the time has come for religious leaders in the country to speak up against disunity, division and friction in communities. The leadership of the church should stand up and talk as well as address the issues affecting communities.”

Eze Wokoma told the leaders of religious based organizations to realize that there is leadership in Rumuokwurusi.
According to him, “religious based organizations must realize and recognize that we have leadership in Rumuokwurusi town. If we do not have leadership in Rumuokwurusi we will not have this dedication today. We do not only experience spiritual development but also infrastructural development.

“The time has come for the people of Rumuokwurusi to stop strangers and outsiders from dividing us. It is unfortunate that we have allowed foreigners to put asunder in our midst. It is a high time we begin to fish out the bad people around us, in fact, we must guard against intruders taking advantage of our town.” Eze Wokoma cautioned.
He expressed delight and satisfaction that the Daystar Youth Anglican Church has been dedicated, adding that the history and story of the church began in 1999 when he was the chairman of Rumuokwurusi town council through a letter he wrote to Mr. Wail Where.

“I recall that the authorities of the All Saints Anglican Church agreed with my administration when I served as chairman of Rumuokwurusi town council upon my application to the church that Rumuokwurusi town required a part of their Land to develop a Civic Centre. Recommending to them that ceding and allotting land to the community for a Civic Centre project would also benefit the church as a new parish, Daystar, can commence worship services in the premises of the Civic Centre. The church agreed with me and the foundation stone of the Civic Centre was laid in the year 2000.

“It is therefore with a sense of fulfillment that I write to felicitate you and the leadership of All Saints Anglican Cathedral for the completion of the new church edifice of Daystar Anglican Youth Church which is today being dedicated to the service of God and the spiritual development of mankind. Above all, I am happy that this church is being dedicated today.”
While dedicating the new church building, the Bishop of the Diocese of Eva, the Right Rev. Innocent Ordu JP warned members of the church on nudity and indecent dressing, even as he promised members of the Daystar Anglican Youth Church that the leadership of the Diocese of Evo would give them maximum support.

Also speaking, the chairman of Rumuokwurusi town council RTC, Chief Clifford Wali said that, “it is a thing of joy to see our church being dedicated today by Bishop Ordu. It is interesting that this is happening in Rumuokwurusi clan today.
“It will be of a common and greater good for the people of Rumuokwurusi to come together as well as forget their differences. Let the interest of the clan be bigger than our personal interest.”
Wali promised that the current Exco of Rumuokwurusi town council would assist the church to fence its premises.
