Rivers Rep Under Attack After Defecting To APC

Mixed feelings have trailed the recent defection by a member of the House of Representatives member, representing Etche/Omuma Federal Constituency of Rivers State, Mr Ephraim Nwuzi, from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The legislator who is a former chairman of Etche Local Government Council, contested in last year’s general elections under the platform of the PDP.
While stakeholders of the APC in the state continue to celebrate Nwuzi’s defection to their fold, there are some who believe that there was nothing to celebrate. One of such persons is the Vice President- General of Ogbakor Etche Socio Cultural Organization Worldwide, Omuma chapter, Japhet Ogbueri.
According to him, “with all sincerity devoid of political bias, I wish to categorically confirm to you in case you have forgotten that Hon Ephraim Nwuzi came from non academic, none accomplishment, irresponsive, incompetent and mediocre social, economical and political background and remains Number two among the hierarchy of failed leadership class short-changing Etche political advancement in the last 20 years, which our people earnestly yearn to be liberated from.

“He served as chairman of Etche LGA for six years; special adviser to the governor on special projects for four years, commissioner for employment and empowerment for four years and now in second year as House of Reps Member Representing Etche / Omuma Federal Constituency, with almost nothing to show for it.
“Yes, Hon Ephraim served as LGA chairman when Etche allocation was third largest in Rivers State, the same time Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike (Ikwerre man) and Chief Barry Mpigi (Ogoni man) were LGA Chairmen of Obio-Akpor and Tai respectively. But today, NEW has been COS, Minister of State and now two term governor, while the latter was in House of Representatives and now distinguished senator, whereas our own is still trying to understudy the mechanism for answering present in the Green Chamber or at worst trying to manoeuvre who becomes LGA chairman or party chairman at local level.
In the release which he titled “point of fundamental information to the people of Etche ethnic nationality in Rivers State,” Ogbueri who is also the national leader, Etche Peoples Liberation Congress (EPLC), urged members of the APC, in Etche not to be in a hurry to forget what he alleged as “volumes of electoral injury and political brutality” in Etche.
In his words, “it’s only the truth that will set Etche free from developmental stagnation and political subjugation, not complicity or compromise. Therefore, Etche people in APC must not be in a hurry to forget volumes of electoral injury and political brutality masterminded by Hon Ephraim Nwuzi from 2014 against their political ascendency.
