Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria NYCN, Rivers State chapter, Mr. Chijioke Ihunwo, has reaffirmed his support for the governor of the state, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, insisting that nobody can make him change his mind.
Ihunwo, who stated this during a press briefing at the NYCN state secretariat, warned those he said were attempting to cause crisis in the state to desist from it.
He explained that the youths of the state have taken their stand, which he said was to support the Fubara led government, adding that no pressure from anyone would alter it.
Ihunwo expressed the need for the Riverine people of the state to be allowed to govern the state for the next 16 years, as was done to the upload.
Wike Not Aware Of Our Defection To APC, Says Rivers Lawmaker
The NYCN state boss also accused Mr. Sukubo Sara-Igbo, believed to be the national leader of the council of collecting 10 million naira from the FCT Minister, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, to cause crisis in the state.
His words, “I want to thank His Excellency, the governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Joseph Fubara, the man that represents the young generation, for the peace we are having in our state, and also thank the newly posted Commissioner of Police in Rivers State for the wonderful job he is doing.
“I want to call on the youths in the state to remain calm, and not indulge in criminal activities and that the youths of Rivers State should do the right thing.
“Under my leadership as the chairman of youth council, we have said it loud and clear that the youths of Rivers State have taken our stand, that we are in support of His Excellency, Sir Fubara, as the governor of Rivers State and that no pressure from anybody that will make our leadership change our decision.”
Rivers NYCN Legal Adviser Lambasts Sara-Igbe Over Alleged Dissolution of State Executives
On the recent visit of some youths, led by Sara-Igbe to the state to dissolve his led state executives over alleged completion of tenure, Ihunwo said, “We are hearing since yesterday that some persons who believe that they are not from our state want to cause crisis in our state, I want to call on the Commissioner of Police to be aware of it; those who claim that they are national leadership of youth council.
“Let me also tell Rivers people that we don’t have any national leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria in Abuja, if we have any, they should tell us, the only leadership we have had crisis and that the man who is claiming to be president of the council has never one day addressed media pally in Abuja or addressed national issues or visit Mr. President to discuss the issues concerning the well-being of Nigeria youths.
“I wonder why such a man will come to Rivers State because he has collected peanut from those desperate evil politicians who wants to cause crisis in our state and that the youths of Rivers State in less than no time will mobilize to the street against them.
“The youth council in the state is one, we are united and we are going to make sure that nobody can change our decision because we are here to ensure that we do the right thing. And we have not gone against the constitutional right of the youth council, so I want to appeal to Rivers people to disregard those we call stranded youth leaders.
“I want to call on my brothers who claim that they are national leadership, they should also look at our brothers, those who have served the council, and today they are doing well in the society, they should borrow from them, and stop visiting state to cause crisis.
“Our state is a very quiet and peaceful state, those people who gave them the 10 million they are using to cause crisis in our state, well, I am sorry for them because Rivers State, we are bigger than that.
“We have said it loud and clear that our support for the governor nobody can change it, and I am asking a question to the man who is now coming to say I am not the chairman of youth council, the same man that was chasing him around and saying he can’t even write his name is the same man he is collecting 10 million from.”
On the political crisis in the state, Ihunwo charged the state Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, “not to be political, he should be neutral, and allow peace to prevail, and that the youths of the state will support the police to ensure that we give useful information how to fish out criminal elements that disturb our state.
“As I speak to you, I am telling you because I don’t give fake information, the minister of FCT, Chief Barr E. N Wike gave Sukubo 10 million naira, that is why he flee those stranded youth leaders, who are not even youths, they are old men, to come to Rivers State and cause crisis, they are busy going round the state causing crisis, matured men in that matter, people that are supposed to be doing something, talking with multinationals, they are busy causing problems in our state, 10 million, I am asking Sara-Igbe, what is 10 million? It’s a pity to the Riverine people that they have such character as a son, it’s a pity to them.
“I am telling you that the FCT Minister, Chief Barr E.N. Wike is inciting those old youth leaders that they should come and claim they are national youth leaders, I want to say something, if you are a national president, I am the youth chairman in the state, I visited the governor and said, His Excellency, those who were sacked in Ignatius Ajuru can you recall them, has Sukubo met with Tinubu before?
“Go to his house, nobody is living in his house, you are coming to talk, you are a youth leader, youth leader where is his office in Abuja, no office in Abuja, you are busy causing problem.
“The youth council in the state, we have a byelaw that authorizes us to conduct our election and to be monitored by the Rivers State Ministry of Youth Development, we’ve done that, the permanent secretary was here and other directors to witness the election and some people are coming in from Abuja that they are youth directors, it’s so unfortunate, even the one who said he is from Anambra State, has he gone to see Soludo before? And he said he is a youth leader, you know these people are laughable people, they are making us feel that we don’t know what we are doing, Rivers State is not that kind of state, we are going to engage them very serious.
“They don’t have office, they are busy collecting money from governors, from individuals to cause crisis, Sukubo Sara-Igbe should know that Rivers State is bigger than him, a Riverine man in that matter collecting money to betray your own brother, it’s a shame to him, the man who does not even want to see him
“Let me tell you something, Nigerians know that the man is a joker, if you are a youth leader, what have you done, what is your legacy, nothing, you are moving up and down causing crisis in the state to say you are supporting what Wike is doing, who told you that.”
He further advised Sara-Igbe to, “look for some other thing to do, I am an Obio/Akpor man, as far as I am concerned I am supporting the governor of our state, and nobody, nobody, can make me change my mind.
“We have done 16years and five months; Ikwerre people and we said power must go back because we are young people and we know that we are moving forward so if the power goes back to Riverine people, they will do 16 years, power will come back to upland.”
