The Andoni, Opobo/Nkoro Journalists Forum in Rivers State has urged the abductors of Mr. Joshua Rogers, to as a matter of urgency, release him unconditionally without any iota of delay.
They also called on the Nigeria Police and all security agencies to without delay ensure that Rogers was released unhurt.
Rogers, a staff of Channels Television was abducted around 9pm on Friday, in front of his gate at Rumuosi in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.
In a release made available to TNN by the president, Philip Owajioboro Philip and secretary, Allwell Ene, the Andoni, Opobo/Nkoro Journalists Forum vehemently condemned the incident.
They described the kidnap as barbaric and a threat to the journalism practice in Nigeria.
“We gathered that Mr. Joshua Rogers who is also a staff of Channels Television was abducted yesterday in Rumuosi, Port Harcourt , close to his residence.
“The Forum frowns at and views his abduction as not only barbaric but a threat to journalism practice in Nigeria.
“We therefore call on the Nigeria Police and indeed all security agencies to without delay ensure the release of our member Joshua Rogers unhurt
“We also urge his abductors to release him unconditionally without any iota of delay.”
